Women’s football without the old boys club.
A club that values all its teams, that won't chuck you off the pitch so an under 8s boys' side can play a friendly, and that will put women at the centre of every decision it makes.
Our new squad is open to all women, including trans women, and non-binary players can play in the team they feel most comfortable in.
That’s Melbourne Rovers. Register your interest now.
FOOTBALL THAT CHANGES LIVES.
For 18 years, Melbourne Rovers has given people who never felt at home in football a team and a community. Many of them say the club changed their lives. Now we're building the same thing to compete in women’s competition.
ONE CLUB.
Existing women's teams usually get what nobody else wants - the late session, the back pitch with half the lights working, the game moved at an hour’s notice so a boys' side can play a friendly. At Rovers, no team will be given less than the other.
WOMEN IN CHARGE.
Most football clubs are run by men, so decisions about women's football get made without women in the room. Rovers has work to do here too. We know we can do better, and we've already made progress.
Every appointment to our women's programme so far has been a woman, and we intend to keep it that way. Where decisions affect the whole club, women will be part of making them.
We have a gender equality action plan and policies in place. We're committed to growing the number of women making decisions at every level of the club, and we'll report our progress publicly every year.
A CLUB YOU'LL STAY IN.
Plenty of women tell us they love their team but hate their club, and never feel part of it. You hear the jokes in the clubhouse, and feel the social events clearly planned by men. Trans women get told they can't play at all. Rovers has been Melbourne's LGBTQIA+ football club since 2008. You'll be part of the whole club - the socials, awards night, everything. And let’s be explicit - trans women and non-binary people can play in whatever team they feel most comfortable in.
